Sysco and SERLs Operations to be Combined

first_img Following the decision to decommission and remove the incineratorfacility at the Sysco site, the province of Nova Scotia hasannounced that it will combine the operations of SydneyEnvironmental Resources Limited (SERL) and Sysco. Bothorganizations are currently involved with continuing clean-upwork at the Sysco site. SERL’s primary purpose was the maintenance of the incinerator.With the decision today, March 4, to decommission theincinerator, one of SERL’s major areas of responsibility hasended. It had another role as a labour-pool co-ordinator for theSysco clean-up activities. In this capacity, it placed formersteelworkers into demolition and clean-up employmentopportunities with Sysco. As the need to hire former steelworkersfor the Sysco clean-up remains, bringing the organizationstogether will improve the co-ordination and efficiency of thisactivity. Sysco and SERL, both provincial Crown corporations, will share aboard of directors.
