The night zone is on floor -1, while the day zone is available on floor 0. The building uses the natural terrain – it flows down with the surroundings. Thanks to this, the living area is higher and we get a greater panorama of the lake, and the two-storey blocks of buildings, partially hidden in the slope, do not disturb the scale of the town and fit into the existing area.Save this picture!© Jakub Nanowski – perspektywaSave this picture!Floor PlanSave this picture!© Jakub Nanowski – perspektywaA steep slope of the plot separates the private part of the gardens from the street, creating a calm green zone overlooking the lake. Colombia Captures Woman Rebel Close to FARC Chief

first_imgBy Dialogo October 20, 2010 The comrades of the FARC should start thinking about a negotiated settlement with the government of Juan Manuel Santos, since their luck will bring death in fighting. Better a negotiated solution to participate openly in politics, even if they fail to recognize that in Colombia the ones demobilizing without prior agreement, will be murdered. However, the possibility of living and participating in legal political actions is always better especially when the avenues for conquest of power by force are denied outright. So I think the path is negotiated demobilization, releasing the hostages and also demanding the release of imprisoned guerrillas. Colombian authorities have captured two senior rebel leaders, including a woman who was part of the security detail of the leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), police said on 18 October. Police Colonel Flavio Mesa said high-ranking FARC members Margot Silva and Toribio Saavedra were picked up in operations in the towns of Hobo and Pitalito, in the southern department of Huila. Silva, alias ‘Daniela’, and Saavedra were considered important members of the Central Joint Command of Colombia’s main insurgency, with 8,000 fighters at arms, Mesa added. ‘Daniela’ was a radio operator for the column that protects FARC leader Alfonso Cano, who took over the guerrilla leadership after the death of Manuel Marulanda (‘Tirofijo’). Soldiers and police backed by military air power have been combing rural and mountainous areas for months searching for Cano in Huila, Cauca and Tolima. President Juan Manuel Santos’ government has been waging a multi-front offensive against the FARC. Last month, FARC military leader and number two Victor Julio Suarez, alias ‘Mono Jojoy’, and other ranking rebels were killed in a raid.last_img read more

Fishing the North Coast: Ocean salmon numbers on the upswing

first_imgSpring rains, and lots of it, can do wonders for our salmon and steelhead populations. Following a wet spring in 2017, the benefits are starting to roll in. At Wednesday’s annual Ocean salmon Information meeting in Santa Rosa, CDFW suggested 274,222 Klamath River fall Chinook adults are swimming in the ocean. Not a huge number, but still right around the previous five-year average. The CDFW also predicted 87,893 natural area spawners to return to the Klamath this fall. That’s a pretty good …last_img

Central State University adds an agricultural education degree

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Central State University has introduced a new Agricultural Education degree program, enhancing its STEM curriculum for Fall 2017.The new Bachelor of Science degree programs bring the total number of baccalaureate degrees offered at Central State’s two locations to 40. The Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education is an outgrowth of the University providing more degrees aligned with the University’s Land-Grant Mission.“By adding degrees that address industry needs, we continue to prepare Central State students to contribute to Ohio’s workforce and to the economic development of the state,” said Pedro L. Martinez, CSU Provost and VP for Academic Affairs. The major was developed in response to the “growing demand” for agricultural teachers in the state. Considering that there are more than 300 agricultural education programs in Ohio high schools, and a need to expand 4-H and FFA programs to more than 600 schools, the current supply of credentialed candidates is insufficient.“We’re excited about the opportunities this Agricultural Education degree will give students in both the School of Agricultural Education and Food Science and the College of Education,” said Jon Henry, Director of Central State’s School of Agricultural Education and Food Science. “The program has been designed inclusive of earning an agri-science teaching license; Students in this program will be credentialed for classroom instruction upon graduation.”Located in Greene County Central State is an easy commute from surrounding counties such as Clark, Champaign, Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Warren, Clinton, Highland, Fayette, and Madison. Students commuting from these counties can earn a four-year degree in their chosen field and become a licensed professional for less than $25,000 in total tuition. To increase access, the School of Agricultural Education and Food Science is developing distance learning courses, and will soon expand partnerships with local community colleges with agriculture programs (i.e to offer 2+2 programs), for those desiring to complete a bachelor’s degree.“Also, an Agricultural Education degree provides an excellent foundation for other careers in the agriculture industry, including extension, food production, agri-business and management,” Henry said. “Industry employers including state and federal agencies are anxious to hire students with the communication and professional skills needed to help train employees, educate their customers, and sell their products.”last_img read more
