first_imgThere are a number of other places in Canada where the time change does not apply – most notably Saskatchewan, the eastern tip of Quebec, Southampton Island in Nunavut and a small part of southeast B.C.In a 1974 referendum vote, Peace River Regional District communities voted to change our time zone to Mountain Standard Time all year round. The referendum had four options on it, including Mountain Standard Time and Mountain Standard with Daylight Savings Time.According to local historian Larry Evans, most residents wanted the second option, but accidentally voted for Mountain Standard Time without Daylight Saving Time- Advertisement –last_img
